Our Mission
Since its inception on July 1, 1999, Encouraging Development Inc has been dedicated to fostering a more inclusive, supportive, and enriching environment for individuals within the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) community. Through our day program, we have strived to make every participant feel valued and included all while providing opportunities for personal growth and connection.
In 2025, to further our commitment to the community, the Encouraging Development Legacy Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization with a clear goal: to raise funds that will help us organize and host more special events designed specifically for individuals with IDDs. These events not only provide opportunities for fun and recreation but also aim to uplift and celebrate the amazing contributions of people within this community. Through the foundation, we are able to ensure that each event we host is a positive and meaningful experience.
With the help of generous donors, and volunteers, the foundation will ensure that every event is accessible and inclusive, creating spaces where people can enjoy themselves without barriers. As we continue to grow, our commitment to uplifting the IDD community through these events remains unwavering.
The foundation’s work is just beginning, and with the support of our community, we hope to expand our reach and impact, ensuring that individuals with IDDs always have a place where they feel appreciated, celebrated, and empowered.
2026 Legacy Prom - April 11, 2026
We’re excited to announce the upcoming Legacy Prom—an unforgettable evening dedicated to celebration, connection, and community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).
Following the incredible success of our inaugural event, the Legacy Prom returns on April 11, 2025, at Arma Dei Academy in Highlands Ranch. This special night brings together friends old and new for an evening filled with music, dancing, delicious snacks, and meaningful social connection in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The Legacy Prom is more than just a dance—it’s a celebration of individuality, inclusion, and belonging. Guests can enjoy the energy of the dance floor, build new friendships, and take part in a joyful experience designed to ensure everyone feels valued and celebrated. A quiet room will also be available for anyone who may need time to recharge away from the excitement.
We look forward to welcoming our guests, providers, volunteers, and supporters for another memorable night. Join us for an evening of fun, laughter, and lasting memories—we can’t wait to celebrate together again!
