Our Mission
Since its inception on July 1, 1999, Encouraging Development Inc has been dedicated to fostering a more inclusive, supportive, and enriching environment for individuals within the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) community. Through our day program, we have strived to make every participant feel valued and included all while providing opportunities for personal growth and connection.
In 2025, to further our commitment to the community, the Encouraging Development Legacy Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization with a clear goal: to raise funds that will help us organize and host more special events designed specifically for individuals with IDDs. These events not only provide opportunities for fun and recreation but also aim to uplift and celebrate the amazing contributions of people within this community. Through the foundation, we are able to ensure that each event we host is a positive and meaningful experience.
With the help of generous donors, and volunteers, the foundation will ensure that every event is accessible and inclusive, creating spaces where people can enjoy themselves without barriers. As we continue to grow, our commitment to uplifting the IDD community through these events remains unwavering.
The foundation’s work is just beginning, and with the support of our community, we hope to expand our reach and impact, ensuring that individuals with IDDs always have a place where they feel appreciated, celebrated, and empowered.
2026 Legacy Prom - TBD
We are thrilled to share that the inaugural Legacy Prom was a huge success! Held at the beautiful Arma Dei Academy in Highlands Ranch, this unforgettable evening brought together adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) for a night of joy, dancing, and celebration. From the elegant outfits to the lively music, delicious snacks, and vibrant socializing, every moment was filled with laughter, connection, and lasting memories.
The Legacy Prom is more than just a dance—it’s a celebration of individuality, inclusion, and community. Our guests enjoyed not only the fun of the dance floor but also the chance to make new friends and feel truly valued in a welcoming and supportive space. We were also glad to offer a quiet room for anyone needing a moment to recharge away from the excitement.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this night so special—from our incredible guests and their providers to the volunteers and supporters who brought the event to life. Your energy, enthusiasm, and care made all the difference.
